The pearls of working outside

Yesterday I finally figured out the downside to working outside rather than somewhere like the reading room.  I was on campus at MIT watching some volleyball and decided to work outside in front of the Dunkin Dounuts.  The sun was out and the weather was nice so at the time it seemed like a great idea.  To make a long story short check out the picture below.

Yup, a bird shat on my keyboard while i was typing.  One of the flaws with having a white keyboard.

Into the REAL world…

My summer is finally over and its time for me to enter the REAL world.  It’s been 2 days and so far its pretty much what I expected.  My internship at A.T. Kearney last summer actually prepared me pretty well for my new life as a consultant in the sense that at least I have some idea of what I am doing.  Basically all we have been doing all day is learning about the telecom industry, excel, powerpoint and other consulting stuff.  RBOC, MSO, GSM, CDMA?  MIT sure has a lot of acronyms, but it doesn’t even compare to the telecom industry.

Road trip summary

We just returned from our 3900 mile cross country road trip from Seattle to Boston.  Overall the trip was a really great experience.  I got a chance to see a lot of states in the mid west which I had never been to before, and we went to a bunch of really cool state parks.  The back seat of our AWESOME Pontiac Grand Prix was a little small, but the car generally held up pretty well.

• Day 2: Glacier- Yellowstone
• Day 3: Yellowstone
• Day 4: Yellowstone- Mt. Rushmore
• Day 5: Mt. Rushmore- Somewhere in South Dakota
• Day 6: To Chicago
• Day 7: Chicago- Cleveland- Niagara Falls- Cooperstown
• Day 8: Cooperstown- Captain Jacks House – BOSTON
